2PM - AIBC ACCREDITED WORKSHOPS

Attention Glaziers and Architects - Choose one of four AIBC accredited workshops lead by industry professionals. Featuring highly focused educational content suitable for both the architectural and glazing community. All workshops run concurrently from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Please select the workshop you wish to attend when registering (W1, W2, W3, W4). Space is limited in each workshop, please register early to ensure you get a seat in the workshop of your choice.

Workshop 1 - How to Build a Glass House

This seminar will be aimed a discussing some of the interesting challenges that we face in projects involving glass. In this workshop participants will look beyond glass as a building envelope material and explore its uses as a structural building material including glass floors, beams, bearing walls, point supports, shear walls and roofs.

Workshop 2 - Glass Production, Processing and Performance

An introduction to the different types of glasses that are available, with specific emphasis on coated glasses and their impact on energy and environmental performance. Additional topics include: thermal breakage, wind load, sound attenuation and size limitations.

Workshop 3 - Glass Selection for Facades: From Rendering to Reality

This program discusses the foundations of the glass selection process and explores the aesthetic options available to meet project design and performance requirements, with a special focus on performance coatings and custom glass fabrication.

Workshop 4 - Storefront vs Curtain Wall

What is a strorefront system? Where is it best used? What is a curtainwall? Where is it best used? In this seminar participants will explore the applications, uses and limitations for two of the
most common glazing systems.

4PM - TOUR

Join us for an in-depth behind the scenes tour of western Canada's largest glass fabricator, while earning two AIBC Core LUs. You will have the opportunity to see the products you specify being created right in front of you. Tour highlights will include: Insulated Glass Units, Tempering, Laminated Glass, Custom Glass Fabrication, Silk Screened and Spandrel Glass.

To ensure a complete Fenestration experience, the tour will continue to Apex Aluminum Extrusions, BC's only aluminum extruder, where you will see aluminum being extruded into architectural products, followed by fabrication and finishing.

6PM - 20 YEAR CELEBRATION

We invite you to join us after the tour to celebrate Vitrum’s twenty years of glass fabrication with ROCK IN THE PARKING LOT. Featuring live music, dinner, wines from around the world, local craft beers and highballs. This will be a great networking opportunity and a chance to meet other members of the architectural and building industry.

Car Service

Any architectural firm within the Metro Vancouver area with three or more attendees may request complimentary car service from their architectural firm to Vitrum and back. You and your coworkers will be transported in style and comfort.
